Theory of Art and Public Space - Land Art and Spiral Jetty

Next week I have to give my class presentation and hand in the accompanying paper for the subject Theory of Art and Public Space.

I decided to focus my presentation on Land Art and after some consideration, a bit of self realisation as to what is actually achievable in the time available, I have decided to focus my Land Art exploration through an examination of the best known example from the movement, Sprial Jetty (1970) by Robert Smithson.

Technology truly has become completely integrated to our existence, and I can say with 99% certainty that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further innovates, the possibility of transferring our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I dream about every once in a while.
